Francis Nezianya was born in Nigeria. He arrived in the US at age 19 with the dream of furthering his education. He immediately began searching for work and was soon hired as a cook and chicken cutter at Church’s Chicken to pay for his education. He gradually moved up in ranks to shift leader where he eventually became supervisor. Francis obtained a Bachelor of Science from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge. He later married Lettimarie. Francis would go on to become the President and CEO of Nezi, LLC and Asaba and Associates, Inc., where he has served for over 28 years.
In 1994, Francis began working at his first Subway Franchise. He would later grow that one store into multiple locations and became a dedicated franchisee of the Subway Corporation. He has multiple locations in and around the Zachary and Baton Rouge area. In response to his hard work and dedication, Francis was elected to the Baton Rouge Subway franchisees’ Board, where he served as board chair. He is also currently serving on Subway’s Regional Advisory Board for the Louisiana/Texas Region.
As a committed civil servant, Francis has been a city council member for the city of Zachary, Louisiana since 2006. He was reelected in 2010, and in 2014 he was unopposed. He was again reelected in 2018 and currently serves as Councilman for District 1. In addition, he has served as a City of Zachary Chamber of Commerce board member and president.
Francis has served as Mayor Pro tem four times during his tenure on the council. At which time, he pushed to have a master plan and development, which was eventually adopted. He took part in sewer rehabs and improvements and advocated for smart growth within the community.
Francis is an active member of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church where he served as the church’s Treasurer and Lay Eucharist Minister. In 2012 Francis was elected to the Louisiana Episcopal Diocese Executive Board where he served a three year term. He currently serves on the Diocese budget committee. He served as president of the Zachary Rotary Club in 2006-2007, in addition to club foundation chair and co membership chair in 2008. Served as assistant District Governor for three years and was elected and served as District Governor (was awarded second best district Governor in 28 districts that year).
Francis has a passion for volunteering and has volunteered many hours with the City of Zachary’s Food Bank. He has also served on this board and as its Treasurer. Francis’ commitment to education also motivated him to become a member of the Foundation Assisting Zachary Community Education (FAZE). He is present and involved in the school improvement team at Northwestern Elementary. Francis also served on the steering committee as a member of the Zachary Americana YMCA where he was instrumental in advocating that tennis court be added to the plan. He led the way in the donation of two courts and pushed to have the City of Zachary itself donate the Community Room.
Francis has been awarded several awards. These include but are not limited to: Subway Regional Franchisee of the Year, Zachary Businessman of the Year, and Zachary Citizen of the Year 2017. He is committed husband, father, family man and businessman who has dedicated his life to serving others.
